Setting Up Your Organization

An organization is a container for all your business data: materials, products, machines, contacts, orders, stock and settings. Every record belongs to exactly one organization, and organizations cannot see each other's data.

If you run one business you will have one organization. If you run two genuinely separate businesses, you create two and switch between them.

Creating one

Your first organization is created by the onboarding wizard — you only supply a Workspace name (at least 2 characters), usually your business or studio name: Lumena Candles, Oak and Hide Leatherworks. You become its Owner.

Later you can create more from the organization switcher → Create Organization. That form asks for two things:

Currency and language are not set when you create an organization. Currency lives in Settings → Cost Settings (per organization) and your interface language lives on your own profile (per person).

Currency

Set your currency in Settings → Cost Settings before you enter many costs. It controls how amounts are displayed throughout the app.

Changing the currency later does not convert anything. There is no exchange-rate conversion in CrafterBy — a material entered as 10 becomes 10 in the new currency, with a different symbol in front of it. Decide early.

Roles

When to use more than one organization

• You run two genuinely separate businesses that should never share materials or reports.
• You were invited into a client's workspace alongside your own.
• You want a sandbox to try pricing scenarios without touching live data.

Do not create a second organization just to separate product lines — use Categories instead. Organizations do not share materials, machines or settings, so you would maintain everything twice.
